Woman Sentenced On Theft, Fraud Charges

November 22, 2014

(Sibley)– A Sibley woman convicted of fraudulently obtaining insurance coverage from her former employer has been sentenced in Osceola County District Court.

Linda Kleve pleaded guilty in April of this year to charges of theft in the second degree, a class “D” felony, and fraudulent practice in the third degree, an aggravated misdemeanor.

A prison term of up to five years, fine and surcharge on the theft charge were all suspended. Kleve was ordered to pay restitution of $27,739.35.

On the fraudulent practice charge, Kleve was sentenced to 100 days in the Osceola county jail with work release and was ordered to pay a $625 fine and $218 surcharge.

Kleve was originally charged with two counts of theft in the first degree and one count of theft in the second degree. In a plea bargain, she pleaded guilty to second degree theft and fraudulent practice.

Kleve was accused of fraudulently obtaining insurance coverage for herself and family members while she was working at Ellerbroek and Associates in Sibley between 2004 and 2010.
