(Wahpeton)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources is advising boat owners of some special precautions as levels of the Iowa Great Lakes continue to rise precariously.
Gary Owen of the DNR urges boat owners to make sure their boats are firmly secured and tied down in hoists. He says with lake levels as high as they are, it won’t take much wind and wave action to set them loose.
Dock owners are also being urged to take special precuations. Owen says many are now underwater. He urges owners of docks that have electrical services attached to them to turn the power off.
