(Emmetsburg)– A pickup that had been reported stolen from Spencer was recovered Friday from a lake in Palo Alto county.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says it received a call shortly before 3:00 p.m. regarding a possible vehicle in Five Island Lake just outside of Emmetsburg. A picku topper was seen floating in the water near the boat ramp in the 3500 block of Huron Street on the east side of the lake.
Not knowing if anyone was possibly in the water, authorities summoned assistance from the Emmetsburg Police Department, Arnolds Park-Okoboji Underwater Search and Rescue, the Emmetsburg Fire Department and the Palo Alto County Ambulance.
Upon investigating, it was determined noone was actually in the water. Authorities then recovered a white 1997 Chevrolet S-10 pickup that had been reported stolen from Spencer at about 5:00 p.m. Thursday (July 21st).
The incident remains under investigation by the Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office and the Emmetsburg and Spencer Police Departments.
