(Sioux City)– A northwest Iowa man who pleaded guilty in federal court to a firearms charge has been sentenced in U.S. District Court in Sioux City.
43-year-old James Stone of Laurens was sentenced to two years’ federal probation.
Stone pleaded guilty in July of this year to one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
At his plea hearing, Stone admitted being a user of methamphetamine and possessing a 20 gauge shotgun on April 10th of 2009 after a consensual search by law enforcement officers of the residence he was living at. During the search, officers located the shotgun and items used for manufacturing methamphetamine.
The case was investigated by the Cherokee, Clay and Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Offices, the Storm Lake Police Department, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
