(Spirit Lake)– Unofficial results from the Dickinson County Auditor’s office show incumbent Mayor Mary Vanderwoude has been narrowly re-elected in Okoboji, receiving 237 votes, compared to challenger Leo “Butch” Parks with 224. Incumbents Jim Delperdang and Jim Hentges were re-elected to the Okoboji city council, defeating challenger Will Kretsinger.
In Milford, incumbent Todd Schillinger lost out in his re-election bid for city council to challenger Don Olsen. Incumbent Rick Kilts won his re-election bid. A lodging tax in Milford was overwhelmingly approved.
In Spirit Lake, voters have soundly defeated a bond issue proposal for a new city hall, the measure receiving support from only 41 percent of those who voted. It needed atleast 60 percent approval for passage.
In Wahpeton, incumbents Brad Jones and Phil Johnson were re-elected to their respective city council seats, defeating challenger Norman Pixler.
In Terril, Julie Thiesen, Todd Nissen and Darrell Woods, Jr. were elected to three seats on the city council. Six people were running. The next Mayor in Terril will have to be determined at the time of the canvas by the Dickinson county board of supervisors. Elwin Clark was running unopposed, but passed away last week. The next highest vote getter in the canvas will be declared the winner.
