Highway 86 Stateline Crash Injures Two

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office has released details into a two-vehicle collision this past Saturday on Highway 86 at the Iowa/Minnesota border that injured two people.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 24-year-old Benjamin Busser of Brookings, South Dakota was driving a 2006 Chevrolet southbound when he drove off the right side of the road, hit the shoulder and lost control. It then crossed the center line and collided with a northbound 206 Jeep driven by 37-year-old Alma Theis of Lakefield, forcing her into the ditch.

Busser was treated on the scene for non-incapacitating injuries and was released. Theis was transported by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare in Spirit Lake with non-incapacitating injuries.

Busser was cited with failure to maintain control.

Damage was estimated at $5,000 to each vehicle.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance, Spirit Lake First Responders, Spirit Lake First Responders, the Spirit Lake Fire Department and Jennings Tow and Repair.
