Southern Minnesota Collision Injures Five

November 22, 2014

(Trimont, Mn.)– A two-vehicle collision Sunday at a southern Minnesota intersection sent five people to the hospital.

The Minnesota State Patrol says it happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of Martin County Road 44 and Highway 15 south of Truman.

Troopers say a 1999 Oldsmobile driven by 19-year-old Lacey Kezar of Winnebago, Mn. was westbound on County Road 44 and slid through a stop sign, colliding with a 2011 Ford that was northbound on Highway 15 driven by 15-year-old Sophie Shelgren of Fairmont, Mn. Both vehicles came to rest in the west ditch of Highway 15.

Both drivers, along with three passengers in Sophie Shelgren’s vehicle, 51-year-old Monica Shelgren, 56-year-old David Shelgren and 18-year-old Hillary Shelgren…all of Fairmont…were taken to the Fairmont hospital.

Damage estimates to the vehicles weren’t immediately available.

The Minnesota State Patrol was assisted on the scene by the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
