(Spirit Lake)—A two-vehicle collision yesterday (Tues.) at the intersection of highways 9 and 71 and Peoria Avenue in Spirit Lake sent one person to the hospital.
The Spirit Lake Police Department says 51-year-old Margaret Lewis of Jackson was driving a 2005 Chevrolet westbound on Highways 9 and 71 at Peoria Avenue when she collided with the rear of a 2000 Chevrolet driven by 21-year-old Austin Higgins of Spencer who had stopped for a red stop light.
Lewis was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare; no injuries were reported to Higgins.
$1,000 in damage was estimated to the vehicle driven by Lewis; no damage was reported to the one driven by Higgins.
The collision took place shortly before 11:30 a.m.
