(Spencer)—Candidates are being sought for 2013 Clay County Fair Queen.
Applications are available from area high school Guidance Counselors, the Clay County Fair Administration Building or at www.claycountyfair.com. Applications must be submitted to the Clay County Fair Queen Contest at P.O Box 527 Spencer, Iowa 51301 on or before March 22nd. A committee will select the finalists who will compete for the title on Sunday, April 14th at the Clay County Regional Events Center. Finalists will be notified by April 1st and will receive more information on the next phase of the competition.
Judging will be based on personality, attitude, awareness, leadership and citizenship, contribution to the community, overall appearance, charm, poise and on a three-minute self-expression.
Females between the ages of 16 and 21 by this coming August 8th are eligible to apply. They must never have been married, must have no children, cannot be a professional model, cannot represent any other organization and must reside in Clay county or an adjoining county if the majority of her activities are in Clay county. Applicants must also be a member of atleast one service organization.
The Clay County Fair Queen will represent the Clay County Fair in the Flagfest Parade in June; the Iowa State Fair during the queen contest, various summer celebrations, and the Clay County Fair in September.
The Queen will also receive a variety of prizes and awards.
