We have one on designer drugs, we have bullying, cultural adversity and diversity, and breast cancer.”
Coleman says the keynote speaker for this year’s event will be Steve Ford, actor and son of the late President Gerald Ford…(click here for comment.) “He’s going to talk about what it’s like being 18-years-old and all of a sudden being thrust into the lime light as the President’s son. The most important thing, or one of the most important things that he talks about is strong family units and living life with values and character, setting and juggling priorities and he’s also going to talk about his mother’s breast cancer and addictions and her struggles with those.”
Coleman says the event is especially intended for those in the field looking to keep their training up to date…(click here for comment.) “If you need continuing ed credits to renew a license, that’s essentially what it’s for and who it’s for. Nurses, social workers, nursing home administrators, psychologists, mental health workers. Just those individuals that are required to renew a license with the continuing ed requirement.”
Coleman says there’s still time to sign up, even though the event starts Thursday. More information is available by contacting Iowa Lakes Community College at 1-800-242-5108 or Northwest Iowa Community College at 1-800-352-4907.
