Xmas Eve Cruise

November 23, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– Ordinarily, a Christmas Eve cruise on the Queen Two would be unthinkable. With West Lake Okoboji still completely ice-free, that isn’t the case this year.

The Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum is going to take advantage of the situation by offer a first-ever Christmas Eve cruise.

Herman Richter of the University of Okoboji came up with the idea. He tells KUOO news he got the idea when a woman came into the Three Sons talking about how her family was planning to go out on the lake Christmas Eve. From there, he says, the idea for a Queen Two Christmas Eve cruise snowballed.

The event will serve as a fundraiser for the Maritime Museum. Tickets are 50-dollars per person and may be reserved by calling the Maritime Museum. A maximum of 200 tickets will be sold.

The Queen Two will leave the dock at Okoboji Boats at 4:00 p.m. Monday and return at about 5:15 p.m.
