(Des Moines)– Both sides continue to prepare for a January 22nd hearing the state’s Environmental Protection Commission will hold on a construction permit Dutch Creek Farms wants to build southwest of Milford. The hearing was scheduled after the Dickinson county board of superivsors voted four-to-one to appeal the D-N-R’s decision not to rescind a previously issued permit for the project.
As we reported previously, only the board of supervisors, Dutch Creek Farms and the D-N-R will be able to speak during the hearing. However, the commission is accepting written comments from the general public prior to the January 22nd hearing. They should be sent to Randy Clark at the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Wallace State Office Building, 502 East Ninth Street, Des Moines, Iowa–50319-0034. The comments must be received by 4:30 p.m. January 17th. The fax number is (515) 281-6794.
The January 22nd hearing will be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Ingram Building at 7900 Hickman Road in Urbandale.
A hearing in a civil lawsuit in the matter is set for January 21st in Dickinson County District Court.
A mediation session last week between the parties involved failed to reach a compromise.
