Windom, Mn. Man Charged In Palo Alto Co. Jail Escape

November 22, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Additional charges have been filed against an inmate of the Palo Alto county jail as a result of him breaking out of jail Monday night.

Sheriff Russ Jergens says 18-year-old Jeremy Simich of Windom, Minnesota has been charged with escape from custody and fleeing the state to avoid prosecution…class “D” felonies; and fourth degree criminal mischief…a serious misdemeanor.

Jergens says Simich crawled through a window and escaped from the county jail around 9:30 p.m. Monday. He was taken back into custody around 2:00 a.m. this (Tues.) morning and is back in jail.

Simich was originally being held on charges of second degree theft and second degree criminal mischief. He was accused of stealing a vehicle in September of 2003 owned by Jensvold Motor Company in Emmetsburg.

Jergens says additional arrests are likely.
