Wind Generators Near SL To Provide Power To Alliant Energy

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– Officials with Alliant Energy/Interstate Power announced Monday that Clipper Windpower, Incorporated has been selected to provide the utility with 150-thousand megawatt hours of wind energy.

John Ruff of Alliant Energy/Interstate Power says it’s part of their “Power Iowa Program” that puts an emphasis on renewable energy. He says the power for this phase of the program will come from 29 wind generators Clipper Windpower will construct in western Dickinson county.

Ruff says Clipper Windpower plans to have the wind generators up and running by 2003.

Clipper Windpower has been negotiating lease agreements with landowners in western Dickinson county. They’ve also been talking to county officials about zoning issues and easements along county roads that are needed to construct transmission lines.
