Wet Weather Brings Planting To A Halt

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– The recent wet weather has brought corn planting to a halt for most of the region.

But Paul Kassel, a Crops Specialist with the Iowa State University Extension Service, says many farmers were able to make good progress before the rains came. As a result, he estimates about three-quarters of the crop has been planted. But he says there are a few isolated areas where no planting has taken place due to the weather conditions. Even in those instances, Kassel says there’s no cause for concern yet.

Kassel says the recent moisture for the most part has been welcomed.
