(Milford)– Just because there hasn’t been much in the news about it so far this summer doesn’t mean West Nile Virus is no longer a threat.
Mary Dunleavy of Dickinson County Public Health says the threat remains and is reminding everyone to take the necessary precautions as mosquito activity increases.
Dunleavy says so far there have been no reports of West Nile being documented in any dead birds that have been found in the county. Even then, she says we should still assume West Nile is, indeed, present and take the necessary precautions. She recommends emptying anything on your property that collects water, avoiding going outdoors when mosquito activity is the highest…especially in the evening; and to protect yourself when you do go outdoors with a repellant containing an ingredient known as “deet”.
