(Wahpeton)– Wahpeton’s Planning and Zoning Commission last evening tabled for a second time a proposal to re-zone commercial properties in the city from residential to lakefront residential.
In unanimously approving the motion, commission members said they need more information…and they want the city’s comprehensive land use plan updated.
The motion to table the re-zoning contains a provision asking the city council to hire a professional to assist in updating the plan.
The previous action left the next agenda item moot. The commission was also supposed to consider a change in the city’s zoning ordinance that would allow a multi-family district with condominiums as a permitted special use. Owners of Crescent Beach Resort requested the change. But that item wound up being tabled as well due to the earlier motion. That drew concern from Jim Ladegaard…a Spirit Lake attorney representing Crescent Beach. He told the commission any meetings to update the comprehensive plan should be open for public input. The commission chairman assurred Ladegaard that will be the case.
