Vision Iowa Awards CAT Grant For Lake Park Project

November 23, 2014

(Des Moines)– The Vision Iowa Board Wednesday officially awarded a one million dollar community attraction and tourism (CAT) grant for the Lake Park Community Complex project.

The proposed project consists of a new 7-12 school, gymnasium, community center, city/school library, city/school auditorium, little league and soccer fields, baseball and softball complexes and walking trail. The proposed project has an estimated cost of seven million dollars.

The Vision Iowa grant is contingent on a bond issue being passed. Harris-Lake Park Superintendent Gary Richardson says a four million dollar proposal will likely be put to the voters again in July. A similar measure was defeated in December.
