(Emmetsburg)– An Emmetsburg man escaped serious injury last Thursday when a vehicle he was driving went into a creek.
The Palo Alto County Sheriff’s Office says Jeremy Joynt was driving a 2005 Mitsubishi northbound on 430th Avenue just north of 450th Street when he apparently fell asleep at the wheel. Deputies say upon waking up Joynt over-corrected and lost control. THe vehicle crossed the center line and went into the west ditch and entered a creek, striking an embankment on its west side. The vehicle came to rest on its wheels in the water.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at 17-thousand dollars.
The crash took place around 8:00 a.m.
