(Okoboji)– The University Of Okoboji Foundation announced Friday it’s awarded 323-thousand dollars in grants to various lakes area projects.
Three thousand dollars was awarded for a “cyber cafe for Dickinson county senior citizens; the Lakes Art Center will receive 20-thousand dollars for lighting its new auditorium; and 300-thousand was awarded for the construction of a new YMCA in Dickinson county. The grant will be paid in installments of 50-thousand this year; 75-thousand next year and the balance as money becomes available.
The foundation has also awarded 50-thousand dollars to the Okoboji Spirit Center. It’s the final installment of a 300-thousand dollar commitment approved three years ago.
This round of grants brings the total given by the foundation to various projects over the past 13 years to more than 1.1 million dollars.
