(Spencer)– The pilot of an ultralight airplane was forced to land in a soybean field Tuesday evening after its engine quit.
The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says the plane landed safely around 7:30 p.m. about three miles east of Spencer.
Upon arriving a deputy made contact with the pilot, 77-year-old Charles Jones of Spencer. No injuries were reported to Jones and there was no visible sign of damage to the plane.
Clay County Chief Deputy Brad Hawley says Jones faces no sanctions as the ultralight is not regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration. He adds no investigation is anticipated.
