(Undated)– U-S Senator Tom Harkin will visit two local schools later this month.
Harkin is touring the state, meeting with local school leaders and students of communities that received funding under the Harkin grant program.
The program provides funding for construction, remodeling, fire safety and rennovation projects.
Locally, Harkin will visit Spencer High School at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 17th. He’ll be at the Sheldon Middle School at 1:30 that afternoon.
The program has provided 94 million dollars to 264 school districts throughout the state since it got its start in 1998. Harkin secured an additional seven million dollars for the program in the fiscal year 2004 Omnibus Appropriations Bill.
Applications will likely be available later this month.
