(Okoboji)– The University of Okoboji Foundation has a new chairman.
Burrill “Bud” Getman of Arnolds Park was elected to the post at the foundation’s annual meeting last month. He succeeds Smith Schuneman of Okoboji, who headed up the group the last two years.
Other officers for the upcoming year include Steve Goodenow, Vice Chair; and Wayne Johnson, Secretary-Treasurer. Newly-elected directors are Ellen Schneider, Debbie Johnson and Becky Batcheller.
The foundation’s endowment is now at about three million dollars.
Since it’s founding 16 years ago, the foundation has made grants totaling nearly 1.25 million dollars to more than 40 local organizations.
It was pointed out at last month’s meeting the grants committee this year had requests for nearly 332-thousand dollars, with just 146 thousand available to give, of which 75-thousand dollars was an installment pledge for the Bedell Family YMCA.
