Two-Vehicle Accident In Spirit Lake Sends Five To The Hospital

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A two-vehicle accident Tuesday evening in Spirit Lake sent five people to the hospital.

Spirit Lake police say vehicles driven by 38-year-old Russell Pinkes of Omaha and 59-year-old Linda Guza of Arnolds Park collided at the intersection of Highway 71 and 34th Street.

Authorities say Pinkes was northbound on Highway 71 and Guza was southbound and was turning left onto 34th Street when the two collided.

Russell Pinkes and three passengers in his vehicle–Lisa Pinkes, Kelsie Pinkes and Cody Pinkes…all of Omaha…along with Guza…were all taken to Lakes Regional Healthcare. Their injuries weren’t believed to be serious.

Five thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 2002 Ford truck driven by Pinkes; a 1991 Buick driven by Guza sustained an estimated eight thousand dollars in damage.

Guza was charged with failure to yield while making a left turn.

The mishap took place shortly after 6:00 p.m.
