(Spirit Lake)– Two people were injured in a two-vehicle accident late Friday afternoon in Spirit Lake.
Police say vehicles driven by Jackie Lee Rapp of Estherville and Roger William Jones of Okoboji collided in the intersection of Highways nine and 71 and Keokuk Avenue around 3:40 p.m.
Jones was taken by ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital with a back injury; Rapp was treated at the scene but wasn’t taken to the hospital.
Authorities say Rapp was eastbound and pulled into the westbound lane of the highway to avoid two vehicles that had stopped when the collision took place with the vehicle Jones was driving.
Four thousand dollars in damage was estimated to a 1998 Chevrolet driven by Jones with the vehicle driven by Rapp described as a total loss.
The mishap was investigated by the Spirit Lake Police Department with assistance from the Dickinson County Ambulance and Spirit Lake First Responders.
