Two Men Arrested In Connection With Sheldon Shooting

(Sheldon)– Two men have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting Tuesday evening in Sheldon.

Police say 24-year-old Lathan Matrall Barnett was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the death of 17-year-old Shelley Gonnerman. Felony weapons charges have also been filed against Barnett. A similar weapons charge was filed against 22-year-old Shane William Meyer. The two men, who are from Sheldon, were booked into the O’Brien county jail.

Authorities were called to North Park Apartments in Sheldon around 7:30 last evening and found Gonnerman, who had been shot in the face. She was taken to the Northwest Iowa Health Center in Sheldon where she died a short time later.

An investigation continues.
