(Johnston)– Two local bankers have received a special honor. John E. Goodenow and Stephen J. Goodenow are the 2026 recipients of the James A. Leach Leadership Award, presented during the Iowa Bankers Association annual convention held earlier this week in Johnston, Iowa.
Leach formerly represented Iowa in Congress and chaired the the U.S. House Banking Committee and Financial Services Committee from 1995 to 2001.
John Goodenow and Steve Goodenow for fourth and fifth generation bankers, respectively, and helped shape Bank Midwest. John also played a key role with Goodenow Bancorporation. Steve Goodenow served as an Associate National Bank Examiner with the Comptroller of the Currency before joining Bank Midwest in 1992.
