Truck Collides With Overpass; Westbound I-90 Shutdown Near Worthington

November 23, 2014

(Worthington, Mn.)– The driver of a truck that collided with the supports of an I-90 overpass early Monday near Worthington, Minnesota walked away from the wreckage uninjured. But the mishap resulted in the westbound lanes of the interstate five miles west of Worthington being shut down indefinitely. Traffic is being detoured as structural engineers and crews work to assess and repair the damage. There’s no word as to when it might be reopened.

The Minnesota State Patrol says 28-year-old Daniel Olseksiuk of Glenn Allen, Illinois was driving a 1995 International straight truck when he collided with the supports of the Nobles County Road Nine overpass.

No injuries were reported to Oleksiuk. A passenger, 47-year-old Andrew Strutynsky of Glenn Allen, Illinois, was treated and released at the Worthington hospital for bumps and bruises.

The truck was totaled.

The crash took place shortly after 3:00 a.m. Monday.
