(Spirit Lake)– You can help brighten the holidays again this year by dedicating a light on the Tree of Love at Lakes Regional Healthcare.
Carol Johnson of Spirit Lake is the chairperson of the annual Tree of Love project. She tells KUOO news for a five dollar donation you can purchase a light on the tree as a memorial for someone or to honor a friend or family member’s birthday, anniversary or holiday greeting.
In addition, a corresponding tree with wooden hearts representing each recipient of the Tree of Love lights is located in the hospital lobby.
Johnson says proceeds from the Tree of Love assist in the work of the Volunteer Action Center/Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Lakes Regional Healthcare Volunteers.
A lighting ceremony for the Tree of Love will be held Sunday, December 5th at Lakes Regional Healthcare. Guest speaker will be Pastor R.D. Streeter of Calvary Baptist Church in Arnolds Park.
If you’d like to make a donation for a light, contact any Lakes Regional Healthcare Volunteer or Joan McCulloch at the VAC/RSVP office in Spirit Lake.
