Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Charges Against Spirit Lake Men

(Pocahontas)– A traffic stop in Pocahontas county Sunday has landed two Spirit Lake men in jail on numerous drug charges.

Deputies stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver, 18-year-old Eric Kliegl of Spirit Lake, was intoxicated. A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up marijuana, psychedelic mushrooms and drug paraphernalia.

Kleigl was arrested and charged with operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the Pocahontas county jail with a 45-hundred dollar bond.

A passenger, 21-year-old William Hawn of Spirit Lake, was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of psilocybin mushrooms…a class “C” felony…and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hawn was booked into the Pocahontas county jail on a 15-thousand dollar bond.
