Traffic Stop Leads To Charges Against Spirit Lake Man (1)

(Spirit Lake)– Numerous charges have been lodged against a Spirit Lake man in connection with a traffic stop early this (Mon.) morning in Spirit Lake.

Police say they stopped a vehicle shortly after 2:00 a.m. on Highway nine near Eastwood Estates on the west side of Spirit Lake that was being driven by 28-year-old Nathan Leners of Spirit Lake. He was initially charged with driving while barred. Upon being questioned while he was being searched, Leners allegedly admitted to officers that he had a hypodermic needle in his possession. Officers recovered the syringe and other drug paraphernalia, along with a substance alleged to be methamphetamine.

Leners was booked into the Dickinson county jail on additional charges of possession of a controlled substance…methamphetamine…second offense…a serious misdemeanor; possession of drug paraphernalia…a simple misdemeanor; and prohibited acts…an aggravated misdemeanor.
