(Terril)– A special honor for a local high school student.
Lexy Determan of Terril is among a group of Iowa high school students selected for the Character Counts program sponsored by Drake University.
Lexy’s mom, Kathy Determan, tells KUOO news Lexy was nominated by her sister Jesse.
Kathy says Lexy was judged on her accomplishments in school, extra curricular activities, church involvement, and work in the community.
Lexy will travel to Ames later this month where she’ll be presented the award and will take in a Cyclone’s basketball game.
Lexy was also recognized in a special segment during the pre-game show on Learfield Sports’ broadcast of the Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Wisconsin Badgers men’s basketball game Wednesday evening on KUOO.
Lexy is a sophomore at Terril/Graettinger High School.
