(Spirit Lake)– Some wrinkles have developed in a purchase agreement between Dickinson county and an attorney representing the current owners of the Vacationland Laundromat.
The board of supervisors voted two to one following a public hearing last month to proceed in talks to purchase the business across the street from the courthouse.
But different interpretations in two areas of the purchase contract arose at Tuesday’s board of supervisors meeting. One deals with a prepayment clause; the other is on the date of possession. Negotiations on the technicalities are under way. As of now, a formal purchase contract hasn’t been signed. And Bill Sackett, an attorney representing current owners of the laundromat, said unless negotiations are successful over the next several days, the deal will be called off. At that point, he says the business will be listed with a private realtor and put up for sale to someone other than the county.
