(Undated)– Several fire departments in southwest Minnesota have been awarded funding through the U-S Department of Homeland Security.
Among those receiving grants locally are fire departments in Hardwick, Lakefield and Round Lake.
The funding will be used to purchase new fire trucks and equipment, install smoke alarms and fire suppression systems, promote fire prevention awareness and support training programs.
The three southwest Minnesota departments are among 14 in the state that were awarded more than 1.2 million dollars through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
