(Arnolds Park)– A huge success. That’s how organizers of a massive fundraiser to eradicate the Arnolds Park Amusement Park’s long-term debt describe the outcome of the campaign.
Sue Richter of Milford told the board of directors of Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated Wednesday the “Sustain Our Park” campaign has officially concluded. Richter says the campaign raised $1,686,251.63. Richter says 630 entities from 29 states made contributions ranging from two dollars to 500-thousand. She says the average gift was $2,676.59
As a result of the campaign, Richter says the park’s long-term debt has been reduced to 115-thousand dollars.
Richter says the nearly 1.7 million raised in the “Sustain Our Park” campaign does not include a 500-thousand dollar endowment from former lakes area businessman Ed Parsons or the proceeds from a donated building to be sold. Al Maser, Chairman of the Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated board of directors, says it’s likely the proceeds from the sale of the building will more than offset what’s left of the long-term debt.
While Historic Arnolds Park, Incorporated is happy over the success of “Sustain Our Park”, they say they still aren’t out of the woods financially. They’re quick to point out the need to make some massive repairs to the Queen Two excursion boat very soon.
