Suspect Boat Wanted In Fatal Hit-And-Run Remains At-Large

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– There’s nothing new to report in the search for a boat wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash early Friday on West Lake Okoboji.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office spent a good part of the day Friday searching the shorelines, boat ramps, parks and parking lots, but nothing was turned up.

The crash claimed the life of 51-year-old Michael Joseph Brosnahan of Perry. His wife, 50-year-old Jill, is listed in fair condition this (Sat.) morning in a Sioux Falls hospital. Four other people aboard the boat weren’t injured.

Their boat was struck from behind by another boat as they were travelling 15 to 20 miles-per-hour off of Village West.

The suspect boat is described as a 22-foot runabout, predominantly white in color with red stripes six to eight inches wide and a foot apart. It’s believed to be an in/board out/board. Anyone having seen a boat matching that description should contact the Dickinson County Communications Center at 336-2525.
