(Milford)– The Milford City Council Monday denied a request from the Okoboji school district to extend 10th street from “H” Avenue west along the north side of the high school. The school wants the extension for access to a new parking lot that would be built with the gym project. But council members nixed the idea over concerns on snow removal on a street that would be a dead-end. Council members say they’re willing to consider any revised requests.
The council also held a lengthy discussion on Lower Gar Estates. They approved a motion directing the developer to install larger water and sewer lines; to have the area re-zoned to single family residential; and that an access to one of the lots be 50 feet wide and maintained by the developer or owner. The city will be contributing 22-thousand dollars toward the development.
Milford council members also approved a reduction on the speed limit on “L” Avenue south of sixth street to 10 miles-per-hour; and approved the appointments of Bob Sewell and Mel Berryhill as the city’s representatives on the 28E water quality commission.
