Storm Lake Man Arrested In Royal Burglaries

November 22, 2014

(Spencer)– An investigation into recent burglaries in Royal has led to the arrest of a Storm Lake man on several felony charges.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office was notified Friday morning of a break-in at the Silver Minnow Bar and at Fredrick’s Market, both in Royal, that had occurred sometime Thursday night. Numerous items were reported stolen including alcohol, cigarettes, lighters, DVD’s, Play Station games, business checks and lottery tickets.

Through an investigation, deputies identified a suspect as 31-year-old Hilario Tello of Storm Lake.

At 6:00 p.m. Friday, Clay county deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Tello on West Fourth Street in Spencer. He was arrested after deputies found Tello to be in possession of stolen property and several forged checks from the Silver Minnow Bar. A search of his home at 507 East Fourth Street in Storm Lake turned up more stolen property.

Tello is charged with possession of stolen property, theft of lottery tickets, two counts of burglary and two counts of forgery…all class “D” felonies.

Tello was booked into the Clay county jail on a 58-thousand dollar bond.

Authorities say their investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
