(Everly)– The town of Everly is off limits and shut down after being hit hard by storms late this (Thursday) morning.
Clay County Emergency Manager Bryce Denker says roads going in and out of the town are closed and no is being allowed to travel around town.
Denker says Everly was the hardest hit town in Clay county by a line of severe thunderstorms that ripped through the area. Baseball-size hail and winds gusting in excess of 60-miles-per-hour caused extensive damage in the town. Crews are working to restore power. Numerous trees are down and there are reports of structure and crop damage.
The school in Everly has been shut down for the kid’s safety. Parents will have to wait to pick them up. Denker stresses all the kids are fine.
Surrounding fire departments and the Clay County Road Department are cleaning up debris.
