(Spirit Lake)– If April showers bring May flowers, what do February showers bring?
That’s what many residents are asking after Sunday’s drenching rains.
Nearly an inch of rain fell on the Iowa Great Lakes. The official total at the KUOO studios was 94 one-hundredths-of-an-inch. Had that been snow, we would have been looking at nearly 10 inches of the white stuff. Temperatures were way too mild for that, though.
Many areas reported setting one-day rainfall records for February with the rain.
There had been concern earlier over the potential of flooding along the Little Sioux and Floyd Rivers in northwest Iowa. But now the National Weather Service says both rivers will remain well below flood stage.
The National Weather Service says we can expect dryer and warmer conditions today (Mon.).
