Stolen Vehicle Recovered In Spirit Lake

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A vehicle owned by Osceola county that had been reported stolen has been recovered in Spirit Lake.

Dickinson County Sheriff Greg Baloun says the Ford Taurus was reported by Osceola County authorities as being stolen from the Sibley area around 9:00 this (Monday) morning. Baloun says a vehicle matching the description was spotted in Spirit Lake by an off-duty Clay county officer around 11:45 this morning. The driver of the suspect vehicle had pulled over to ask the officer directions to Jackson, Minnesota. The off-duty officer contacted the Dickinson County Communications Center, and a sheriff’s deputy stopped the suspect vehicle moments later in the parking lot of Shopper’s Supply in Spirit Lake.

The driver, 34-year-old Edward Gonshoworski of Sibley, was charged with operating while intoxicated and was booked into the Dickinson county jail. Osceola county authorities plan to charge Gonshoworski with operating without the owner’s consent once he’s been processed in Dickinson county.

No damage was reported to the vehicle.
