(Des Moines)– Iowa House Minority Leader Dick Myers Wednesday announced the appointment of State Representative Greg Stevens of Milford to the Distance Learning and Communications Network Study Committee.
Stevens tells KUOO news the committee will examine the current Iowa Communications Network and make recommendations for its future. He says that could involve opening it up to entities other than just state government and schools. Stevens says they would also probably charge user fees under such an arrangement.
The state has invested more than 300 million dollars in the I-C-N since its inception in 1989. It currently needs some 10 to 15 million dollars in repairs and maintenance.
