(Spirit Lake)– A familiar face is at the helm of the Dickinson County Cleanwater Alliance.
Steve Anderson of Spirit Lake has been hired as the Alliance’s new coordinator, replacing Donna Buehl who resigned last spring.
Anderson is no stranger to the post, having held the same position a couple years ago. Most recently he’d been working at the Iowa Great Lakes Maritime Museum…something he says he’ll continue to do on the side. Anderson says he decided to pursue the Cleanwater Coordinator position after being urged to do so by several people.
One of the issues Anderson says he’s looking forward to tackling is the occasional problem with contamination in the Emmerson Bay area of West Lake Okoboji.
The Cleanwater Alliance consists of a consortium of lakes area governmental entities and organizations who help oversee projects designed to protect the water quality of the lakes area.
Anderson began his duties as Cleanwater Alliance Coordinator July 11th.
He adds he’ll soon be accepting proposals for funding on behalf of the Dickinson County Water Quality Commission, which has a 28E agreement with 10 Dickinson county municipalities and the county to protect water quality by providing local funding as a local match to grant proposals.
