State Senator David Johnson To Co-Chair Ag Committee

November 22, 2014

(Des Moines)– State Senator David Johnson of Ocheyedan will continue to lead the Senate Agriculture Committee when the 2005 legislative session convenes January 10th.

However, with the Senate evenly divided, the Ocheyedan Republican will share the gavel with a Democrat co-chair, Senator Eugene Fraise of Fort Madison.

The results of the November General Election left the Senate with an even split of 25 Democrats and 25 Republicans, meaning each committee will have Democrat and Republican co-chairs.

Last month Johnson was elected assistant leader for the 81st Iowa General Assembly.

Johnson will also continue to serve on the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and the Environment. He has been newly appointed to the Senate Appropriations Committee and will serve on the Human Resources Committee and the Health and Human Services Budget Subcommittee.

Johnson represents Senate District Three which includes Clay, Dickinson, O’Brien and Osceola counties and a portion of Sioux county.
