(Spirit Lake)– Drug charges have been filed against a Spirit Lake woman in connection with an incident at the Spirit Lake Wal-Mart store.
Police say they were called to the store Monday after being contacted by officials in the Pharmacy Department.
47-year-old Charlene Mueller was arrested and charged with theft of property and prescription medicine with a combined value in excess of two hundred dollars. Mueller was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
Authorities say a subsequent investigation revealed that prescription forms Mueller is accused of presenting to the Wal-Mart pharmacy were forged by her, and that they had been stolen from an examination room at the Jackson, Minnesota Medical Center.
Authorities say a search warrant was executed Tuesday on Mueller’s residence in Spirit Lake that resulted in the seizure of several items. That resulted in additional charges being filed against her, including two counts of possession of a schedule three substance, each a class “C” felony; four counts of forgery, each a class “D” felony; and one count each of possession of a schedule four controlled substance, an aggravated misdemeanor; unlawful possession of a prescription drug, a serious misdemeanor; theft in the fourth degree, a serious misdemeanor; and theft in the fifth degree, a simple misdemeanor, for an unrelated shoplifting incident.
Mueller was also wanted on outstanding warrants from Dickinson and Emmet counties for unrelated incidents.
Authorities say an investigation continues and more charges are possible.
The Spirit Lake Police Department was assisted by the Jackson and Lakefield Police Departments and the Arnolds Park Police Department.
