(Spirit Lake)– A major trail project in Spirit Lake is being pushed back a year.
Public Works Director Todd Dolphin says several factors have resulted in the trail extension along 23rd street and in the Center Lake area being delayed. Among them is the replacement of a sanitary sewer line.
Dolphin says the new timeframe calls for completion in October of 2002.
The city has received a 400-thousand dollar grant from the Iowa Department of Transportation for the project. They’re hopeful the delay won’t put the funding in jeopardy. A letter has been sent to the D-O-T requesting additional time.
