(Spirit Lake)– A traffic stop in Spirit Lake has resulted in the arrest of a man wanted out of O’Brien county.
Spirit Lake police say they pulled over a vehicle around 1:30 p.m. Friday at the corner of Highways nine and 71 and Erie Avenue after the officer recognized the driver and knew he was wanted on an outstanding warrant out of O’Brien county for violation of a no contact order.
Authorities say a subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a handgun.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 44-year-old Efrain Chavarria, no current address, was also charged with possession of a firearm as a felon…a class “D” felony.
Chavarria was booked into the Dickinson county jail.
