Spirit Lake To Hire Code Enforcement Officer

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake City Council voted earlier this week to hire a code enforcement officer. The person serving in the capacity will be responsible for enforcing the city’s nuisance ordinances. That’s currently done by the Police Department and Public Works Director. But city officials say the number of complaints they get are increasing and neither the police or Public Works Director have enough time to follow up on them.

Interviews will be getting underway soon. The city plans to have someone hired by the end of the year.

The position will be funded through local option sales tax and utility fund receipts.
