Spirit Lake Schools Awarded Homeless Assistance Grant

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake school district has been awarded a 69-thousand dollar grant through the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act.

Superintendent Tim Grieves says the money will allow them to open up the high school media center after school hours with a tutor and computers available to assist students with homework.

Grieves says it will also provide training for staff in knowing and understanding challenges facing homeless students.

The Spirit Lake school district will receive 23-thousand dollars a year for the next three years.
