Spirit Lake School District Looks At Increased Tax Asking

November 22, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Spirit Lake School District will more than likely have to increase its property tax asking for the upcoming fiscal year as a result of ongoing cuts from the state.

Superintendent Tim Grieves told the school board Monday evening he’s recommending they increase the district’s levy from the current rate of $10.52 per thousand dollars valuation to somewhere between $10.71 and $11.21 per thousand valuation.

The board has scheduled a work session for 5:00 p.m. Monday, March 15th to decide on a targeted amount.

A public hearing on the budget will be held at the board’s next regular meeting April 12th.
